Destiny 2 lightful should you avoid it shortlist it or straight up buy it well in this video I'll be telling you exactly what I think you should personally do I've not been around Destiny 2 for years and recently I only just managed to get myself back into it and figuring out what was going on in the universe and all of that time that I was away playing through the witch Queen for example was an enjoyable enjoyable experience and also a couple of the seasons during the whitch queen as well I was really looking forward to lightfall I'm No veteran in the destiny space By Any Means at all I'm no law Daddy and I need a lot of information told to me to understand what the hell is going on in recent times and at those Point moments in time look just adding into this section as well from what we've seen with leaks and different people on Twitter and stuff like that I've looked into lightfall and why it's so underwhelming well apparently this wasn't meant to be an expansion in the first place and that in fact the entire story for what should have happened right now is gonna happen in the final shape and lightful was kind of maybe one of the there's things that they just shoved in there to make it seem like it was 10 years again going off what Destiny leaks on Twitter mentioned it says here that the original lightfall DLC is what is now going to be the final shape I guess Bungie didn't feel like changing the DLC name or something like that seems like Bungie didn't originally plan on having this whole DLC to exist in the first place which is lightfall kind of like a filler I'll try to get more information and then he goes on to say below that I can tell you that strand was originally planned for witch Queen and even further down in here as well you can see that 2020 21 and 22 there's no lightfall in there at all this was a Google search from a couple of years back and like I've always only recently been put into there so was this a last minute thing to prolong the light and dark Saga to give it that 10-year plan to make it to that 10-year thing but I I don't really know but this might be why it stinks so bad I don't know just wanted to add this in there there will be spoilers for The lightful Campaign in this video of course so if you're playing through it or planning to play through it don't watch this video maybe watch a spoiler free review somewhere on YouTube if you can find one but leave your thoughts and opinions down below leave a like on today's video it'd be greatly appreciated also subscribe if you guys are brand new or returning view to the channel as well for much more content on the way and let's dive straight to him is Lightfall KIND to new players? so to start our review is the lightfall expansion for the new or completely new player to Destiny if I saw lightfall liked the look of the trailer thought that this is my time to jump into Destiny is this the right time to do it well no it really isn't and it's really sad to say because after playing a couple of expansions like the witch Queen the seasons within the witch Queen going back and playing one or two of them within the free-to-play weekends and stuff like that the game's really interesting the lore is really really interesting and me trying to learn that law from being a novice it's difficult for one because a lot of stuff was sunsetted from the start of the game but in terms of how much that actually is to know it's almost a decade of knowledge to try and get yourself up to speed with and these are links and things that they make in the new lightful expansion go all the way back to for example Beyond lights and stuff like that it's difficult to make those links if you have no idea what they're talking about this expansion was always going to be a problem for Bungie to bring new players on side and no matter how many little cutscenes and summaries that they try to add into these expansions and stories and Seasons the destiny universe is just so big that it isn't possible to give you all the knowledge that you need and that's why it's so intimidating to so many people however in comparison to witch Queen and lightfall what the witch Queen does so well is it bases the story around a new character someone that we haven't actually met before really and that was sabathune however this new character relates to one from a previous DLC or a previous expansion which is the destiny 1 boss the taken King this was really interesting because the new players got to learn alongside the older players and from that point on can theorize and then go back and look at things that they need to look at whereas lightful it just doesn't offer that same experience I mean kallus is not a new character by any means the witness is not a new character by any means he's been around for since witch Queen but the really good thing that Bunchy did with the witch Queen was obviously with it being related to the taken King and sabathune it makes players want to go back and read about the law the backstory what happened to the Kate taken King what happened to these three siblings the witch Queen also reintroduced the likes of mythrax Aramis Aldrin sov which is Crow marasov Osiris Saladin all of these were fleshed out characters during the seasons as well and they played a big part in the witch Queen DLC with the likes of Osiris being a main part of it but man lightful it's just it does no service to the new players and it's mostly for the old older players that have been around for the last couple of DLC packs and seasons and things like that however even the more hardcore players have had a lot to say about this DLC and expansion and a lot of them have no damn clue about half the stuff that was discussed within this expansion for example the veil look I don't want to Ramble On In This section because we have a lot of other things to cover in this video but just finishing it off lightfall was fun in a sense of gameplay and mechanics and things like that it's Destiny it's really really fun I just like Destiny in general so I got through it and I thought that it was fun to play through but you you will need to do your homework to understand what the hell is going on in different areas and for different things who everyone is and ultimately what's happening throughout the story The Links between different characters the backstories of some of these characters which aren't necessarily always fleshed out so yeah you need to do your homework if you want to know anything about lightville Neptune the cloud Striders the veil all of these are new even to the hardcore fans but knowing the law around all of this linking it back to the sneaky hints in previous expansions so if you've played the witch Queen DLC you'll know the sabathune two lies and two truth section does in fact hint at there being a The Traveler or the traveler someone something that's similar to a traveler which we believe is the veil stuff like this you wouldn't be able to link This Together unless you played the witch queen or you played the previous seasons in DLC you see what I mean but it goes even further back than witch Queen to the likes of Beyond light where there are links there as well look I think even if you jumped into which screen last year you'd be intimidated of the amount of information that you need to know but I thought the witch Queen was a much better DLC to jump into than what lightfall was which Queen offered a lot of new law a lot of new information a lot of just a lot of new things in general which was really really good for the new player to jump in learn and then do their research about it because a lot of things were answered within that DLC.
whereas in lightful not a lot was answered in the DLC so if you're a new player you know about the cloud Striders you know something called a veil you know that the the witness has started the the final shape but what does all of this mean and we just don't know because we don't we aren't explained any of this and it's potentially being left until the seasons to be able to explain that which maybe they should have flipped it and explained all of the expansion and then built upon it within the seasons but of course let me know those opinions down below this is just the first part but now on to the story side of things Was the Story any good? for new players you're not going to have a clue what's going on it is as simple as that and to be honest even if you're experienced player you're probably going to have trouble figuring out what half this stuff is and theorizing is a massive part of lightfall the one where you should be gearing up and starting to close off the light and dark Saga and integrates it slowly into the new saga which will be obviously after the final shape the introduction of The Veil The Cloud Striders was cool but we get very little information from anyone about what the hell the veil is you know the thing that kallus and the witness wanted so badly to literally start the final shape at the end of the story we're told about a second Veil or something along those lines that the Vex were creating but they were destroyed and they didn't finish it but I don't know what the first Veil is so why would I care about the second fail do you hear what I mean here the story just wasn't up to scratch and this was meant to be a huge huge DLC and expansion that was coming out to Mark the beginning of the end of the liken the dark Saga but it did nothing for me where was the long overdue fight between kaito and kallus and why was it done off screen nothing we hear about it in some dialogue over the radio from kaito half of the storyline was dedicated to strand like yes it's a cool concept and I enjoyed grappling around the map and using it here and there but could that not have been done during the season like why is half of the premium expansion which I paid a lot of money for dedicated to us learning a new ability as opposed to learning more around the law and the story look I don't know what Bunch you were thinking with this one to be honest I'm pretty disappointed and I'd probably say let down with how this expansion has turned out and coming at the back of which Queen I thought it would only be up from here but man was I wrong so what's my final verdict on lightfall Final Verdict, Score and more should you avoid it shortlist it or go straight ahead and buy it well I'm gonna give two answers here if you're a new player like myself this is not a good time to jump into Destiny I would avoid it completely I would look at walkthroughs I did a complete story breakdown on the channel go and watch that I'll be on screen right now and link below it'll save you money and it will give you an idea as to what's going on and even give you some insight into what some of the things mean which the story doesn't do honestly new players stay away I would really recommend not jumping into this unless you want to put the time in to learn the law if you want to backtrack nine years of Law and Destiny of the destiny Universe be my guest and do that but if you want a thrilling story something that is gonna sit you down and ground you for eight hours and just have a good time you're probably not going to find it in lightful and for the more experienced players if you're humming and owing around picking this up or if you don't really know if it's a good thing for you to jump back into Destiny maybe you've played it for ages you took a break and this is your chance to jump back in for example I would probably is a shortlisted I I wouldn't say avoid it if you're a if you're an experienced player because I feel like they are building up to something that's going to be great here for someone that could understand what's going on from the likes of witch Queen and maybe even before witch Queen I think this would be a good DLC for you to maybe do some theorizing interpret what's going to go on going into the future what potentially the witness was doing with the traveler there's a lot of things that you will know as opposed to a new player so I think if you're an experienced player or someone that's played it a fair amount in the past it could be a good DLC for you to download and play through but again it's expensive if you don't want that check out my story explain video again links below and it'll give you all the information that you need but overall I would probably give lightfall a 5 out of 10 like it's below average for me it really is it's disappointing and it's not the scorer wanted to give as opposed to which screen which would be probably close to an eight or a nine I thought this was a massive downgrade um and yeah I really hope that the seasons will give us the information nation that we've that we long for and I hope that the final shape is going to be the DLC that we hope for but guys that's gonna be it for today's video I hope you have enjoyed let me know thoughts and opinions down below of course leave a like if you have enjoyed subscribe if you guys are brand new or returning viewer to the channel for more videos like this one coming in plenty of content coming on the channel and without further Ado everyone we'll see you all next time.
